I'm amazed didn't recruit these punks

I'm amazed didn't recruit these punks to run for office

Theyre just little babies, wondering why
They did nothing to deserve this.

Selene Magnolia Gatti: May 2023, Lugo, Emilia-Romagna, Italy

These pigs survived in a pig factory farm that had been severely affected by floods. Canals and rivers in the area had overflowed after heavy rains and extreme weather conditions. The floods came after years of severe drought in the region, which compacted the soil, reducing its ability to absorb rainfall.

Prince on Four Feet (usually)
Four Footed Prince on Two Feet...
One prince was ummmm standing on only two feet for a while..
On the way to the slaughterhouse, might as well enjoy one last fuhhhLingggg... I guess.
> ... better pigs came from lowa. They were so much better that they required clean drinking water (unavailable to 80% of the Haitian population), imported feed (costing $90 a year when the per capita income was about $130), and special roofed pigpens. Haitian peasants quickly dubbed them "prince a quatre pieds," (four-footed princes).

> The eradication of the Haitian Creole pig population in the 1980s is a classic parable of globalization. Haitis small, black, Creole pigs were at the heart of the peasant economy. An extremely hearty breed, well adapted to Haitis climate and conditions, they ate readily available waste products, and could survive for three days without food. Eighty to 85 percent of rural households raised pigs they played a key role in maintaining the fertility of the soil and instituted the primary savings bank of the peasant population. Traditionally, a pig was sold to pay for emergencies and special occasions (funerals, marriages, illnesses), and, critically, to pay school fees and buy books for the children when school opened each year in October.

German Court Orders Deletion of Footage Exposing Pig Gas Chambers: They filmed the screaming. Now they're being silenced

''Let that sink in. The judges confirmed the footage was authentic. They confirmed it showed animal welfare violations. They confirmed it was in the public interest. And they still gave the slaughterhouse everything it asked for.''

This is the individual who endured a lifetime of suffering and ultimately lost their life for the "pork" on your plate.

German court orders deletion of footage exposing pig gas chambers

"What this illustrates is simple: Legal does not mean ethical. Regulated does not mean humane."

Pigs are smart, playful, and full of curiosity, yet most spend their entire lives without ever feeling sunshine on their backs or grass beneath their feet.

"The office originated in Anglo-Saxon England, when hogreeves would be stationed at the doors of cathedrals during services to prevent swine from entering the church."

Approximately 1.5 BILLION pigs have their lives taken for food globally each year.

Hot climate extremes and overcrowded industrial agriculture

* Extreme heat wave in France kills hundreds of thousands of poultry >>

* "The heat is also hitting cattle farmers. High temperatures reduce feed intake, increase water demand and cut milk output. They're standing there with their mouths wide open, just trying to find air...It's very difficult, physically for people and for the animals." >>

You've been waiting a long time, and I finally remembered to bring my phone out with me for chores, so here are a few fun photos of the baby pigs :)

Cute Little Pigs in the Pigsty

And y'all - we got our first set of breeder pigs for the Ranch! Separate breeding pen in the works, they're happy together for another few months, and plans still to train these and the next batch on electric so the future herd can be out on the land helping us decompact things. Some logistical kinks need to be worked out - I can go into detail another time.

But for now! Babies! Mangalitsa + Red Wattle mix from our friends at Sage Mountain Farm. Two gilts and a little boar - but only one has thus far posed for a photo. They don't have names yet! They had a long drive on Friday to get here and they're still acclimating. Other than caring for them and spending some time sitting by the fence talking to them so they know I'm safe I'm trying not to bother them too much while they get settled. More to come on these guys!

Wild pigs! A family unit.

Might be worth a look
