Siirin and Saara are 2 very lucky pigs, who got to live a full and happy life. Most never get that opportunity.

Soooo, one of the biggest investigations into pig slaughter for human consumption happened in Greece, it seems! If not the biggest one there (I'm starting to think if it's one of the biggest worldwide actually with how many places were investigated). Didn't know this had happened! Absolutely incredible work by the investigators. The images and video (Haven't seen them all.) are truly devastating. Just goes to show no country is different in how they treat these innocent beings. They are seen as products and are treated as such. If you've seen how pigs are usually treated, this is no different. Yet there are still people claiming their country is different for some reason
The investigation were done by REthink ANIMALS ( You can translate that.) from March to May this year and they have an ongoing campaign which is called (There's even a website for it! Of course you can translate that, too.) and it has to do with the traditional Greek food gyros that usually has either pig or chicken flesh wrapped in a pita with potatoes, tomatoes and a sauce made with cow's milk, cucumber and garlic called tzatziki. The campaign seems to have launched this sort of picture sub-campaign, of activists posing with a slogan relating to gyros. These are my 2 favourite images so far from the campaign! (I obviously got permission from both to post them here.):vegan:
We give animal products different names so we dont have to think about who they came from.
But behind every product is an individual who wanted to live...

But as John explains, there is no escape for these animals.
The only solution there is, luckily, is a very simple one - we stop eating animals!

Please do not compare capitalists to pigs
Pig shouldn't be an insult, it just shows how little humans respect pigs that their species is equated with capitalism and fascism and racism and misogyny
I believe this is because humans hurt innocent pigs so much that they have come to hate all pigs because in pigs they see their own violence reflected back at them.
Its easier to hate pigs than to empathize

Almost every domesticated pig in existence is treated worse than humanities worst criminals.
All because they were sweet and docile enough to be taken advantage of. How is that right
Pigs, and all other animals, deserve justice and basic respect.
Animals stuck in random places, dog insists on bedtime tuck-in, cat loves to swim, needy piggy, and more.
If you've ever lived on a farm, you know pigs can outsmart dogs (eg, large pigs will encircle an aggressive dog, and then slowly close the circle to trap and crush the dog). Yet, humans often kill pigs and add their body parts to dog food, because humans prefer dogs as pets.
Would people still want to eat it if we called it what it really is: strips of pig flesh

Speciesism is so embedded within human culture and here are some english language phrases as evidence
Pig Ignorant
Gone/Left to the dogs
Cash Cow
Headless Chicken
Sheeple
Horse-power
These phrases all show contempt or disregard to the individuality and/or suffering of members of non-human species: think about how you would treat such aphorisms playing off of cultural or racialized stereotypes
And then there's the dozens of species names that are just straight up insults to call someone.
All that for a slice of bacon

It is estimated that more than 90% to 98% of all farmed pigs globally live in intensive factory farming systems.

Pigs are highly intelligent, social animals - yet many mother pigs endure the severe confinement and stress of gestation and farrowing crates.
They deserve compassion, not confinement.

"Currywurst"
